By partnering with EarthCheck, we have joined other industry leaders who are taking meaningful steps to address some of the very real challenges our planet is facing.
SapoCycle
We send our leftover soap from Hotel Krone Unterstrass to SapoCycle, a non-profit foundation operating under the umbrella of the Fondation des Fondateurs.
The goal of the project is to collect used soap from hotels, recycle it, and provide these products to children and families in need — helping to improve hygiene conditions and make a meaningful difference.
Green-Team
At Hotel Krone Unterstrass, our meetings focus on topics related to the environment, climate protection, and reducing our carbon footprint. Together, we discuss improvement proposals and define concrete measures. Our representatives from various departments ensure internal communication and continuously raise awareness within their teams about sustainability. Because we are convinced: every individual can make a positive contribution to a more sustainable future!
No Food Waste
Our kitchen and service staff receive targeted training and are encouraged to handle food carefully and responsibly. At Hotel Krone Unterstrass, we rely on efficient processes to minimize food waste as much as possible – from precise menu planning to optimal storage of our products. Any leftover food is collected through the BioTrans system and converted into environmentally friendly energy. In addition, we place great importance on consistent waste separation and proper recycling.
Training Company
At Hotel Krone Unterstrass, hospitality is not just a job – it’s a passion. That’s why we place great importance on the education and development of young talent. With around four apprenticeship positions each year, we create sustainable career opportunities for the next generation in the industry. Our dedicated vocational trainers provide both personal and professional support to apprentices, helping their first steps in the hospitality sector become a solid foundation for a successful career. By passing on expertise and enthusiasm, we actively contribute to the future of the hotel industry.
Mobility
At Hotel Krone Unterstrass, we place great importance on sustainable mobility. The Kronenstrasse tram stop is located right outside the hotel, allowing guests to reach us easily and in an environmentally friendly way. A large number of our employees also commute to work daily by tram and train, choosing one of the most sustainable forms of transportation. In this way, Hotel Krone Unterstrass actively promotes and practices a conscious and responsible approach to mobility in Zurich.
